cute functional tech
Since childhood, I’ve always loved researching stuff, seeking sources of inspirations to make print mood boards (think Pinterest-esque but handmade) … good times. Countless browsing through the internet, books, magazines, encyclopedias (who remembers these? yes I’m that old I guess).
Well some things haven’t changed, I still love coming across some really cool stuff. And if you’re like me, you like to sweeten things up a bit by adding details to your surroundings, your workspace, from the tools you interact with daily to the items you work with the most. When it comes to style, my aesthetic preference is minimal but with notable or maybe even abstract details. When incorporating color — pastels / soft tones are usually my go to otherwise black and white is my default. I often get surprised when I come across a piece of hardware that is pink or some color that is usually out of the norm and I’m glad that is changing!
I truly believe that when you start customizing or adding a personal touch to your environment, it makes your workload less burdensome, and maybe even help you be more productive. Like changing the keycaps to your new mechanical keyboard, having a nice decent planner to jot down important things or dates (a Hobonichi has become my go to!), a charging cable to match your phone or overall aesthetic, or maybe even just choosing a certain kind of color for your next micro controller or chip because it’s cute but still functional.
I have compiled a few electro-cute things with links that might bring you joy, and hopefully find useful too!
